Unfortunately, Disk Inventory X does not work on Time Machine Volumes due to Apple's usage of "hard links" on these volumes.
So, as of now, please just don't use it for that.

That's strange.
Would you please run Disk Utilty's repair function on that disk and have a look if that makes any difference for Disk Inventory X? |

Do you use the drive as your Time Machine volume? Unfortunately, DIX has problems with Time Machine volumes.

Yes, DIX uses quite a huge amount of memory if a big drive is scanned. There is a need to optimize the code regarding memory consumption...
