Hi! I find the app very nice and extremely useful for what it was originally intended: finding large files. While I agree with some of the other posters, I disagree with feature wishes who would just blow up this app.
From a Designers point of view I would like to be able to actually turn off the bubbliness/glare of the displayed chunks. Plain clear squares of color would be much cleaner, and therefore easier to read. Keep working on it, I always looked for a good app that's like this one. Finally found one. Thanks! |

Alex? boomer.
Good point, less graphical eye candy might make the app a bit faster on my machine at least. |

Yes, this could be a way to speed things up on slower machines.
But: The displaying of the tree map is separated in 2 steps: first layout calculation and second rendering.
Although one would expect the rendering of the cushion effect to be the time consuming part of the the treemap, this is not always the case.
If a lot files are to be shown, the layout calculation of the rectangles takes more time than the rendering. I will investigate how this can be speed up.
You can test this by yourself: Open a folder with only a few files (or even only one) and look how the tree map behaves when resizing the treemap.
Now open a folder with a LOT files (e.g. your boot drive) and do the same thing.
The cushion effect has to be calculated for every pixel in each case (there is a small overhead for every file though), but the layout calculation only depends on the number of items (folders/files).
